Do You Hear What I Wish I Didn’t?

Can you hear them?

I’ll give you a moment, so you can really listen….

Still can’t hear them?  That’s a shame. I’ve been hearing them since the Pentagon’s press conference this morning.

John Kerry has been clearing his throat.  Russ Feingold has been perfecting his smile.  Ted Kennedy has been practicing “I told you so.”  Each is primping for their weekend interviews, during which they will excoriate the President’s “misguided foreign policy that has spawned Iraq’s civil war.”

Sadly, they are not the only happy Democrats.  While this has not been reported, I would be willing to bet that as soon as the words civil war were uttered, Al Gore and John Murtha broke into a square dance.

Now, I’ll save you a preview of the weekend’s Democratic talking points.  I will also save you their Republican counterparts.  Does the possibility of Iraqi civil war exists?  Yes.  The possibility of civil war exists in every nation.

As an ex reporter, I wish the media would just stop.  I wish they would not report what might happen or what could happen.  I wish they would simply report the facts.  Report the good and bad.  Refrain from analyzing and questioning every pronouncement by everyone with enough time to hold a press conference.

Unfortunately, the media is still talking.  Democrats are still licking their chops.  Iraq is still a fledging Democracy receiving more volume than value.
